It's more for show than for significant protection. It does block some wind from your waist to mid-chest area. Chic Design offers a touring windshield (40mm taller) that should start to provide decent wind protection.

I like The RC because your helmet is in clear air, and you don't get any wind noise. I had a Puig Plus that provided better wind protection but the wind noise was very anoying.
