'13s/DLX/EX = more chromey and more "bells and whistles"
'14 STD = Subtle and sexy in black, with noticeably less chrome

I had the hardest time ridding my brain of the Freddie Spencer paint scheme from my '81 900F. But the black just sells itself and grows on you. In the 3 months(almost) of ownership I have with my STD. I can attest that there is a special and unique effect the lines on the smaller tank pop out with the black paint, It is so photogenic and sexy to look at. Not to say the Red CB11s aren't, but it's a more stealthy look if you can call it that.

As far as engine paint is concerned, I think I like the polished finish the most over black and silver. Does it warrant me swapping an entire engine/stripping and refinishing? No. Different strokes for different folks, some will go longer way$ to bring their envisioned CB11 to life than others, I think it all comes down to choosing the right slate that is closest and go from there, that way less $ and time will be spent in the process.

Either variant, rock solid, superb bike, I love mine more by the mile

Now you went and done it! I didn't really need to look at that picture right now. Great looking Standard.

Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in!

Extra points if you know the movie that line is from.

Oops, just humbly sharing my love for the ol' STD ROFL
Swapping for a black is always an option, but maybe not a relevant one if you're too busy putting miles and keeping busy on other toys..

Agreed. The USDM '13 did it for me, love at first sight status, I still remember where exactly I was when I laid eyes on it for the first time ever, and told myself I gotta own that bike.
