Many thanks,

Kevin

G'day Kevin. At the risk of offending Wiredgeorge, who says, and I quote, "everyone who has ever bought a tire thinks their tire is peachy-keen whahahah", I will say that I have a high regard for the Pirelli Angel GTs. I have had four types of tyre on my bike. The OEM Dunlops, the OEM Bridgestones, Michelin PR3s and, currently, the Pirellis. Both the Michelins and the Pirellis in my opinion are better performers that the OEMs. Stable at good lean angles on all surfaces and give a feeling of confidence at those lean angles. I had a couple of "whoopsies" with the Bridgestones in particular that lead me to that opinion. Importantly, the Michelins gave better mileage than both OEM tyres and the Pirellis look as though they are heading that way. I must have done at least 6000kms on them and they still look good, as they should. I will probably knock up another 2500kms on this months trip to PI, so after that I will measure tread wear and see how they are going. As a basis for this measurement I did measure groove depth when they were new.

I haven't treated the Pirellis gently by any means and have spent quite a bit of time at good lean angles. With some hard wear on the peg feelers I have still about a 3-4cm chicken strip on display (see [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7889&pid=121283#pid121283]this photo, or ). During the later part of the video ride there was a little litter on the road, gravel and some bark, the Pirellis immediately gave good grip after passing over the litter. Cant ask much more than that. It also tells me that the the different profile to the OEMs is not an issue. As far as wet weather performance is concerned the Pirellis haven't let me down, although I take it easy in the wet anyway. Professional tyre testers give them a good wrap.

Hope that helps. Tony
