If it's a matter of "The spring came off easily enough, but now it won't go back on", and nothing has been done to modify the areas where the spring attaches, then it's just a matter of a really tight spring being difficult to reinstall. And it just requires some ingenuity. When I have been faced with this, I have done things like wrap some wire around the end of the spring and pull, bracing a foot against something solid, like the rear tire, and having someone push the spring into place when I have pulled it far enough.
If something was done in the stand modification to alter the spring mounting points, that's a different story.
