this one isn't the wire wheel variety...it's much better suited to pavement. They had one of those too but it just doesn't make sense for me to gear up for dirt when the point is my daily commute. If i really really wanted to be able to take it off roading I could remove the cases and buy a set of spare spoked wheels with knobby tires on them to swap out the wheels. That would give me a fine day on the dirt. But this 800 triple is just perfect for the highway. honestly, even though it's a much smaller displacement it feels way better than my CB does at 85mph. this thing just kind of purrs at 6000rpms. the intake makes that "triple whistle" sound too like a Daytona.
