Just thinking about this thread after I put my bike on the center stand last night when I got home to lube the chain.
One thing I do which might help is this - as I mentioned earlier, I put a rubber mat on the floor before I lift the bike onto the center stand. When I'm ready to bring it back down, as I stand on the left side of the bike, I plant one foot in front of the left edge of the center stand while I lift the bike off the stand using the rear grab rail. That helps to keep the bike from sliding.
