No remaining fuel or range indication - big issue number 2 with this freakin bike

My '13 does not show an accurate fuel level on the meter when I first start it up to go for a ride. After I get going and ride for a block or 2, I get an accurate fuel level reading. I could have a "1 bar" reading when I pull it into the garage and shut it down for the day. When I start it the next day it usually shows 3-4 bars and then after a couple of blocks riding it goes down to the "1 bar" reading. It's always been like this so I assumed it was a feature and not a bug.
