Welcome! There's a good "how to do your own 600 mile service" thread here; lots of things on that list in addition to the obligatory oil/filter worth checking in any "new to you" bike situation, especially one in which you suspect poor prior maintenance.
In general I wouldn't worry about the core guts but I'd look harder at the edges. Your temperature/salt situation may be different down there in Texas than it is up this way, and a 2013 hasn't had *that* much time to sit even in the worst case, but for bikes that have sat up here I always look for dried out tires / hoses / etc.
No need to pay a shop to stare at the same stuff you can stare longer at for free, imo.
