Don't be.
It is, as popgun says, not easy to see on the parts diagram. I looked at the gearbox section in the manual and could see that it's part of the Countershaft and bearing that the oil seal sits on. It's wider than the oil seal and it sticks out, airside of the oil seal. The Sprocket buts up to it. It can't be removed.

Now I'm looking for my original OEM Sprocket to measure the width. I could still have an alignment problem.

I'll let you know what I find.

What make is your 17t sprocket?
