Your point is well taken, Deanohh -- I understand what you're saying. I just don't think the scenario were talking about is abusive or harmful at all to this motor (accelerating briskly from 2500 rpm in 4th or even 5th gear), and it seemed you were giving that impression to Redreno -- he did respond "Uh...whooops" to your reply so I just wanted to reply that I didn't think that was the case. No big deal, really, was just giving a counterpoint.
Now the same scenario wouldn't be so peachy on my 250 single, for sure, as it's probably making about 8 ft. lb. of torque or less at 2500 rpm. What Redreno is describing, if it is out of the ordinary, would be occurring at other times and rpms too I imagine, but if all is normal, in my opinion I don't believe brisk, or even hard, acceleration from lower rpm (within reason) is the least bit harmful to the big CB.
But, as you say, everyone should ride their own bike as they see fit.
