I feel like the stock gearing on my 2013 is perfect. Then again, my 1982 CB750C turns at 5000 rpm at 60 MPH. I don't mind 3500 RPM after that.

Hikertoo, I can do bicycle sprockets too... Lol. I DoD a 26t skip tooth, which is a 52with ever other tooth removed.

I too am often looking for the nonexistent 6th gear. Well I'm into day 5 of motorcycle #2 ownership and I'm already here. With so many others chiming in it can't just be coincidence. Motorcycle #1 is a '98 Triumph Thunderbird with a 885cc three cylinder engine. When the three carbs were out of sync it vibrated to hell and back. But did I test drive the 2013 CB1100 before I signed the dotted line? No. I owned a Honda Civic once and knew they had great craftsmanship. Even though it was used too. And I'm not really unhappy here But geez what a mod to try out, and if it doesn't work out, I can always put back the old sprockets. Thanks Chip, Peking and the rest here! New to the forum and will be ordering the sprockets soon!! ~CB1100

I'd like to do what the op did, and also have a set-up for the drag-strip to see what she'll do, as far as quickness!!

I started a new thread instead of a reply here because I didn't want to confuse doing this modification with questions the technical aspects of the data raised to me. My question has to do with the Tx gear ratios, .... I posted an image of the ratios in a table format and their algebraic relationships (ratios) - don't mean to get fancy. The new thread may be seen directly on the forum at http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7304

A quick thank you to all contributors. I looked at this bike for two years and found a used cream puff with low miles. I was initially disappointed with the buzziness. If I hadn't read this thread prior to the test ride, I would not have purchased the CB1100.
I installed the front and rear sprockets after only 300 miles and absolutely love everything about the new gearing. It is hard to understand why it didn't come from the factory this way. Thanks again CB1100 Forum!!

Rod, I have a couple thousand miles with this new gearing and it is so much better. I'm glad it worked out for you as well. Chip |
