I went through all pages till 40 and copied the posts that describe problems and fixes and put them together in a doc that I can email to people. It's still 9 pages, but more manageable perhaps to show a dealership or read through.

That's good work! I read all of the posts in both those threads last week and came away very confused and looking at the spreadsheet confirms that result -- there is no one solution and no solution that is guaranteed to work. Fortunately, as the Ferret has said -- it is rare.

@Dave I'm not sure how to decide whether the fix is temporary/permanent. Are there parameters that we can agree on for a permanent fix?

And do we know of anyone who has the Guhl ECU that had the problem subsequent to the install?

I had the Guhl ECU reflash done almost immediately upon purchase. About 3500 miles later my high idle problem started. Does not seem to be Guhl ECU reflash related as far as I can tell.
