I had the 'soft sell' about the extended warranty when I bought my 2014 CB1100.
I NEVER buy them, he could of lowered the price to $100 and I wouldn't of bought it.
I'm sure it works out for somebody. Don't let it grate on you, just move on. It's like when you buy something and later see it for a better price, such is life.

My dealer did not try to sell me one, but said they would if I wanted one, and Honda never sent me anything about one. I thought they would, but they didn't.

i get roadside assistance through my insurance.
it is included automatically for the sportsters , and $8 each per year for the ER6N and CB1100.

I am not to concerned about the Honda mechanically, but all the electronics scare me.

The ECM list is $696.98. The ABS modulator is $1480.58. At least I don't have ABS. (not bragging, I wish it did).
The electronic parts are the ones I hope don't fail.

I just re-read this thread and I found that I came off like a huge d-bag. I'm surprised that MG even replies on my posts.
That said, my dealer has a VIP maintenance program which works out better for me than the extended warranty. At least it has so far.

Gentlemen. This is a game of statistically probability. Over the full group of people that purchase these extended warranties if they all had serious failures Honda would lose money. Honda bets this is not the case and makes money on the deal. You however do not have the risk spread across all those motorcycles, your risk of component failure is to the motorcycle you have. I figure the odds are in my favor it will not fail, the same as Honda thinks, but my risk is higher as I only have one motorcycle to spread the risk across.
Does this make sense? So as Dirty Harry says "you feeling lucky punk?"
I don't buy and take the chance. Has always worked for me.
Today's electronics are better than ever, not the 1980s any more. But bad things can happen to good people.

When I picked up my very slightly used '13 from the independent dealer, just before he walked me to the bike he just made mention that they offer an extended warranty. He made zero effort to sell it to me. His exact comment was- "It's a Honda, you're not going to need one."

When I am asked about buying an extended warranty I ask the guy if the main selling point of Honda (reliability) is not valid anymore. They never have a witty answer.
