Will most likely end up like my other vehicles, the ZRX1200 and the VW Phaeton- both discontinued in the U.S. a decade ago, but both still sold in the rest of the world until this year.
BTW- a 180 rear tire is just silly on the CB. That is the same size my ZRX has, and it has a LOT more power.
Back when I owned a FZR600 guys would swap in swingarms and rims off other bikes to put fat back tires on for looks- which would dull flickability the bike was known for. Me? I bought a FZR400 rear- a little shorter swingarm for a quicker wheelbase and aluminum instead of iron.

I was just flexing my arthritic fingers to type pretty much the same thing. It's great that Honda is continuing with the CB1100 and it's great that it's sticking with the same air-cooled power plant.
I'm a bit committed to keeping going with the 2011 model I have so, even in the unlikely event that the CB1100 returns to Australia, I don't think I'll be trading up.
But never say never.

I like the commercial alot! I think that Honda wants to keep the CB1100 fresh and appeal to the younger crowd. I wish they would come back with the deluxe model to appeal to the older folks who like the retro style. Continuing with the CB1100 will help with aftermarket parts availability for all of us.

Here's some more detailed RS info including new steering geometry specs, tire sizes, aluminum swing arm, full led lighing, etc. Also looks like the side covers are pressed aluminum on both models.

I've just ordered the 2014 cb1100ex (dlx) and I am glad, I did it. The only thing I would miss would be the stainless spokes, that I badly wish for the "old" CB. With the new 2017 EX the 2014 EX gets an even more elegant and clean touch, the new tank is very differ, but I like the straight design of the 2014 much more.
Although I like the new RS model very much, it looks much more sporty, bullish, the color of the new suspensions just destroys the design. I love the "anti-retro" style of the 2014 EX, which I think is not really retro but more like an classic evolution, and while I would but the RS if I am want something sporty, I'd rather prefer the 2014 style. But it's good they are continuing the line. I don't need anti-hopping, maybe they changed something at the engine.
I only wish stainless steel spokes for the 2014 CB.

Not getting one though; I'll keep my '13.
Agreed. The 13 and 14 models are still my ideal.

I like it... Not too radical. Would like to test ride one tho. It would be interesting, as others have said, to see how it handles on those new rims.
They are a bit late to the party but glad Honda made it in the end.
I have to agree with the guy from MCN tho. I'd love to see a half faired model, like the concept one that was floating around a few years back. I think a late 70's - early 80's race rep would be a good move right now. Just ahead of the trend curve I reckon... Although guessing how that game is going to go can be dangerous and I'm not sure I'd want to use my money back it.
Just seen the new R nine T racer, on another post.... Think BMW are already ahead of the game.
Can't help thinking the new CB1100 is a bit like the Yamaha take on the XJR1300. Honda have been playing safe for a while now and this backs that position up.

Those are some big front disc! Interesting place for the front running/turn lights. Always thought they were somewhat "drowned" out by the headlight....plus may improve on general visibility with some nice bright LEDs.

I would bet the turn signals size won't meet US DOT regs. Isn't that why we got the big ones instead of the Japanese ones?
