Sorry Randy, on the passing of your close friend. It's always a shock when someone you just talked to or met along the way leaves so suddenly.
It serves as a reminder for all of us to take care of ourselves and loved ones too. If it's time for a check up, flu, shingles or pneumonia shot, we should get them especially as we move up in years.
Thanksgiving is next week and I am grateful everyday that I can do the things I do and keep riding the bikes.

This is exactly the sentiment that I was trying to convey.

He was to turn 65 in January and he put off going to the doctor because he didn't want any pre-existing conditions on his record before getting on Medicare. What an awful reason to lose your life.

Thank you to all of you for the condolences...they really do mean a lot right to me now. He was my second friend to pass within 3 weeks (to the day) of each other. All 3 of us would ride together a lot before I moved from Illinois to California and this month has been hard.

My other friend was in poor health and was not near the surprise that losing Mike was. They were both 64.

Thank again to this wonderful community.

I am very sorry to heat about losing two good friends.
Taking care of yourself should not start suddenly at a later age , a healthy lifestyle from an early age is important. However you might prevent further damage to your health even after you are older by making changes for the better.
I do not see your friend's concern about pre existing conditions when signing up for Medicare but it could mean a higher premium for supplemental insurance ?
It is not always how long you live but more how well you live.
Riding motor cycles plays a very positive part in my mental health.

It's tough getting older. I've lost a few friends in the last five years and just found out an old friend was just recently diagnosed with cancer. Losing friends is not an easy thing to take.

One thing it does do is make you realize how fortunate you are though and also appreciate the days you are living.

I was thinking the other night how winter is coming and how I'm going to be depressed because I won't be riding much if at all when all of the sudden I had the horrible thought of what if I get seriously ill over the winter? I might never ride again!

So appreciate every moment and every ride.

now don't get too depressed.. that in itself will end it all for you.. I will try to help.. I will send out pics of my mountain adventures over the winter.. you then, can ride vicariously through them..

..I am running low on pics that I feel came out well !! .. I had better get on my bike and start shooting more .. I use my iPhone camera and prefer partly cloudy days.. give a monkey a camera and, if he takes enough pics, some will come out nice.. haha ..

[/b][/font]I have found riding my bike to be very therapeutic, not just in the mental relaxation.. I have found myself with some general body aches from doing landlords work the previous day.. by going on a ride, I found my aches to have diminished considerably .. I will say, my back-rest helps a lot !! .. it had become an old friend to me.. I have had it on at least 3 of my previous bikes.. when I sell them, I remove it.. not knowing exactly why.. but knowing I will not get a penny more for the bike by including it in the deal.. and also knowing they will run $150. to $200. if I needed to buy another one.. now here it is on the little CB.. how great is that..
