Due to my own fault when ordering on-line at their website, I accidentally did not change the "welt" field to "no welts" so i'm a little disappointed that it has black welts or "piping", but I think i'll live. It's a pretty good looking seat, not as sleek as the stock one, but definitely way more comfy. I hated that stock seat! I recall reading all the mag articles last winter and they all raved about how comfortable it was, but not for me. I slid forward all the time and my butt would go numb after about 30 minutes on it. I do kind of miss the "Honda" along the back of the seat though!

Installing it - I have read how others said they had to sit on the passenger seat to get the latch to catch. No way could I get mine to latch! I'm 180 pounds and was on my knees on it bouncing and it wouldn't latch. so I removed the two bolts that hold the catch bracket to the seat and I put thin washers under the catch and reinstalled the bolts. now it installs and latches just like the stock seat.

I only have about 10 miles on it so far, but I can tell the comfort level is much better. Now the new problem is that I need risers! The most comfortable spot on the seat is if you plant your butt all the way back so the step to the passenger pad is against your lower back. very comfy sitting there. But the bars are too far away now! I'm 5'11" so pretty average height. Time to order up some risers and get the bars into a better position. Bottom line, I give the Corbin a thumbs up.

You might try simply loosening the bar clamps and rotating the bars back toward you by an inch or so first. It's free. I've done this (both forward and back) with past bikes to get the reach just right. All you have to do is find the sweet spot and then readjust your mirrors etc... and of course, retighten the bar clamps.

I don't notice any difference as far as more or less leg room. Obviously sitting further back changes the leg angle a bit but nothing noteworthy.

Today I put 1" risers on and angled the bars a bit more and I think I've got it nailed! Just a few miles tonight, but it sure feels good.

Great looking seat...
The seat is by far the weakest link on the CB11...

I agree, I like sitting close to the tank also. Except I can't. My left knee hits the cam cover, very hot. So I scooch back a bit. Need to get those Buell footpegs to drop my feet a bit.
I got used to riding the tank on my 01 F4i. 12 years of banging my nads on that bike every day.

How do Buell footpegs drop your feet? Please explain...I'm 6 ft. and that would help a lot!

Look at the picture of fuzzy's bike. They drop your feet down around an inch. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....ight=buell

Hiker,

I have 3 seats for my CB11, stock, a Corbin, and a K&H. The only one of the three that lets me sit where ever I want is the Corbin. At low speeds around town I sit close to the tank and I stay in that position without sliding up or back. On the freeway I sit farther back to lean forward a bit more and again my butt stays right there. At high speeds (75mph +) I sit all the way back and lean forward even more. The Corbin seat is comfortable no matter where I sit and I have no trouble staying in that position. For most of my riding I am not sitting all the way back on that seat. I sit where ever I'm comfortable at the time.

As soon as it cools off a bit I'm going to invite any AZ member over to my home to do a multi-rider 3 seat comparison and we can all write up our thoughts after testing all 3 seats back to back. Cheers.

Chip

Thanks for the good info but I have one more question; it appears that maybe the Corbin sets you a little lower than the the stock seat, is that true?

Thanks in advance....

I also have the Corbin and agree with what Chip says regarding the ability to move around and stay put. As for height, I was a bit worried at 6' since per spec, I think it was maybe a quarter inch lower. However, if there is any difference in height, I don't notice it. That could be a function of where/how I sit on the Corbin, as opposed to the stock seat or maybe at 180 lbs I compressed the foam on the Honda 1/4" more that the 1/2000th of an inch I compress the Corbin. Big Grin
In any case, I did not want to spend $ on an aftermarket seat but am very happy I did.
