Side stand Q
#1
I picked up my new used CB on Sat. it is great so far, the PO glued some goofy home made eng. cover protectors, Its the only F up I could see so far. Hope to get them off without ruining the finish but 2 new covers are only $175 total if I get too anal about it. But my 1st big question is the extension to lower the kickstand is protruding up and forward of the foot peg. It is in the way of shifting, my foot hits it, I'm thinking it is bent away from original position, I been looking for picks but just can't get a good view of what it should look like in the up position, I'm thinking it should be directly under the peg? I think a few wacks with a rubber mallet should fix it or am I missing some kind of bumper on the frame?

If you can post up some pics of the engine guards and sidestand. Dont do anything rash until we see whats happening there

Does this pic help?

Congrats on the purchase!

If you're foot is hitting the side-stand tab, it's gotta be out of place. This is the first complaint of that kind I've seen on this board. Until you compare it to ferret's photos and/or post some of your bike, we won't know for sure.

Thanks for the fast response and the photos. Ferret, it looks like my extender was almost touching the bottom of the peg, everything else looks in order. I wacked it once and now looks closer to yours. I do have big feet, I also adjusted the gearshift lever a little higher.

The engine guard things are not a big deal, the PO tried to cut and shape scrap black PVC and glue it to the bottom edges of the ignition cover and the large crank cover. The guy was not very creative to say the least, I almost have the stuff off the small cover, it will leave some ugly but its hardly noticeable way down on the bottom edge. I never even noticed the crap till I got home and thought it was dropped and he patched it (I was pissed), then noticed it on the other side and realized what he was thinking. But he did record the 2 services and type oil used so I'm a happy rider now. I couldn't interrogate the OO, I bought it were he traded in. Other than that stuff it looks new and I will do a photo shoot on Tuesday after my Plexifairing 3 shows up, just hope it fits.

CB4, I have used that Buell peg trick on more than 1 bike in the past but it seems you would have the same foot issue as me with the lower pegs?

I will be out road testing a little later today once its out of the frigid fifties, HAHAHAHA... sorry, I had to throw that in...

The Buells lower the peg height by an inch. The side stand lightly hits the pegs when retracted but the loop on the side stand is still accessible with your left foot. But the rear brake pedal was still too high at its lowest setting and I was constantly dragging my boots in corners. I replaced them with modified SP Takegawa adjustable pegs. They are a bit lower and more forward than stock and cover the sidestand loop, so I have to use the foot of the SS to lower it.

Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the forum.
