Good for you on being able to keep that tire Long Ranger! I'm thinking about continuing to ride on mine if it doesn't leak at all. It appears to be holding pressure for now. I can't decide if I should just keep riding on it or replace it to be safe. I'm not sure if the screw damaged the cords/belts in the tire.
The tire is starting to develop the feathering/sawtooth thing, which is probably my fault from running 30psi for a while. It would probably ride a lot better on new rubber.

So 5 days later it's still holding air. I'm thinking there is no puncture. A friend of mine thinks I'm nuts to continue riding on it, but I fail to see the problem in riding it until a can afford a new front tire.
That brings me to question. Is there any harm in putting a bridgestone BT54 up front and continuing to run the oringal dunlop on the back? After much reading on the forum, I know that both of these tires have come on the bike from the factory. I also gathered that they are practically the same tire. I can get the bridgestone for about $100 while the dunlop is more difficult to find and more expensive.

If you ask ten people, you'll probably get eleven opinions. Me? If the tire continues to hold air, I'd keep riding it and make plans to replace both tires with a matched set when they're due. I imagine a BT54 front would work fine with your Dunlop rear, but then you'd have two different tires at two different stages of wear. That wouldn't be my preference if it was my bike.

The tar snake patch (NAPA brand) I put in the PR3 (rear) is still not leaking. I figure it should hold until the tire is due replacement.

My .02 stop worrying and start riding...
I pulled drywall screw out of rear tire few weeks ago and plugged has yet to loose a pound of air and i ride it every day 60 miles round trip to work plan to wear tire out.
