Handle bar replacement/ Finally happened bike backed into or attempt to steal
#1
So I found my bike cover shifted and I assumed it was the wind. Later I found the tire had rolled to the rear of the cover. So apparently at one point in my condo my bike tipped over hard. I was happy someone picked it up.

I also found the bike in N instead of 1st gear as always. I'm absolutely positive I left it in 1st as I park on a slight incline and I don't feel comfortable without it being in 1st.

So the damage is:
-Instrument cluster broken
-Handle bars bent
-Left rear taillight bent
-Left covers scratched to hell
-Left handlebar weight scratched.

I put some electrical tape on the cluster and I want to see if still is waterproof. I'll probably leave it.

Does anyone have the pdf's for replacing the handle bars. It's only $90 bucks and even though my handle bar bent less than an inch its annoying enough.

By the pdfs do you mean the parts list? If so, try https://www.partzilla.com/.

Sorry you had this happen. Sounds to me more like someone backed into it, and then I bet left...then someone else picked it up for you. A thief wouldn't have bothered to pick it up.

That suuuuucks. Sorry to hear. It’s one thing to tip your bike over yourself and go on from there, but a totally different situation to be the victim of a careless “hit and run” like this. What’s wrong with people?

Are you just looking to replace the bars with OEM? I normally have good luck with Rocky Mountain ATV/Cycle or Bike Bandit. Make sure you are searching for the right model year, I believe the switch clusters vary from year to year on this bike.

Best of luck to ya. Give a holler if you need any help.

I got reversed into back at the end of March. Fortunately not the amount of damage you had mustang although, having been knocked 'A over T' over the handlebars I have had to get a new helmet as well.

Should get the bike back in one week - it's been a looong wait.

Sorry to learn this. There is not too much one can do against punks hovering over remote parked bikes of any kind. Even if you had real-time video access, I doubt there is much that could be done in time other than capture some faces. Yeah, bummer.

In terms of being backed into, understood. Had that happen to me by a VW Jetta driver not paying attention even after multiple warnings with my horn. Basically, it was distracted driving.

That sucks! I got backed into by a coworker not long ago. Crunched the back fender of my Bonneville, which he paid to replace. He said my grey bike cover blended into the parking lot and he thought the space was empty.

From that point on, any time my bike is parked outside, it's under a hi-viz yellow cover!
