Completed second oil change (DIY)
#1
Ok so my first oil change was at ~ 600 miles. I decided to do another oil change at ~ 1880 miles given the engine is fairly new. So the interval is only ~ 1200 miles

- Prior to the oil change I did a 100 mile ride so the bike was hot.
- When I opened the drain bolt the oil gushed out rapidly due to the oil being very warm-hot.
- Filter came off easily as well
- Used Oil color was chocolate brown..
- Replenished with Honda 10W30 and OEM Honda Filter + Crush Washer.
- This time I almost emptied the 4 quart Honda 10W30 can..
- Fired up the engine.. no new noises anywhere in the engine / crankcase.. I always make sure the bike is in upright position when I first start the bike..don't ask me why...Smile
Feels great.. happy to have the CB1100 in my stable..

That's my approach too. I picked up my DLX with 358 miles on it and the original oil and filter had already been changed. I'll be changing it and the filter again at 600 miles (I know, overkill) as a benchmark for future changes. I have a half dozen filters and 14 crush washers from Ebay and my Honda GN4 10W30 for northern U.S. travel.

Regardless of mileage at the end of the riding season, the oil is coming out and the filter coming off so that I don't have an acidic base in the interior the motor during its down time in the winter. I mentioned it before, I LIKE changing the oil and I like doing it often. To me it's cheap fun. And no Mr. Ferret, this Wolverine fan is not moving down to Ohio next door to you to do yours. With all the miles you put on your bikes, I'd be out to your garage once a week! And that would be overkill to my overkill fun. [Image: 27ab5418bdfcdd23248d56d521207605.png]

The oil change frequency intervals will change to a higher frequency as I ride and break in the motor.. Just enjoying the initial break in process and all that comes with it ...

You have much more chance of stripped threads from multiple changes than you do of 'acid damage' from leaving it alone.

Well.....maybe - if you don't pay attention to what you're doing.
I've changed the oil on my "fleet" for what must be dozens of times now over the past 25 years and have never done that - which is not to say that it can't happen.
I don't know if "acid damage" is real or a myth. The "experts" say yes.
My bikes have to sit for six months over the winter and they all have fresh oil circulated through the engine every fall before hibernation.
They live in a warm and dry place for the winter and are ready to go come spring.

Those are my words and not PowerDubs.
