What did I break?
#1
Thanks for reading. Long time reader first time poster.

I have a 2013 cb1100, U.S. version if it matters, I was removing a very shotty cigarette outlet style power outlet installed by the previous owner to try to correct a shorting problem. I didn't remove the tank but I did lift the back end slightly bc the cable for the outlet was run under the tank. Now my cluster reads no gas in the tank and it won't turn over. Did I pull something loose or break something? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Howdy and welcome to the forum. Can't help but someone will undoubtedly be along soon that can. What was your original shorting issue doing?

I just love it when owners do their own electrical work. Seems to usually bite someone else in the butt somewhere down the line.

Good luck with your issue.

There is a 3 wire cable loom with a 3 pole connector for the fuel pump and fuel level indicator on the bottom rear of the fuel tank;

This cable connects to a 3 pole connector which can be found behind the left "cb1100" cover on the middle of the bike, it is the top one of three connectors ( this picture shows the connector with the tank socket removed;

This cable has to be disconnected and removed with the fuel tank before the tank can be removed

Suggest taking the cover off and check if the connector is in the socket.

Welcome to the Forum Cbcarolina.

Sounds like you might need to relive the past and retrace your work path.

Ignore Max's red arrow though. That is pointing at the hydraulic line for the clutch.
