Any forum member personally checked valve clearance?

Or has an owner on the forum changed one or more valve shims? Even if you had a shop perform the check/adjust, what did you find about the clearances at 8000 miles (recommended.)

Any other words of wisdom re this topic?

I did my first check at 48K miles because the valve cover gasket started leaking and needed to be replaced anyway. Everything was still in spec.
