Are there any links to a pdf manual for the CB1100 that we know of?

Owners Booklet, Factory Service Manual, Assembly & Prep Manual - that kind of thing.

Hopefully someone can point me to something useful.

I have some old Kawasaki ones I can share if that helps anyone.

I sincerely hope that no member of this forum is personally affected by the terrible events in Florida today. If they are, please accept my deepest sympathy which is also extended to the family and friends of the victims of this senseless act.

I learned something interesting today and thought I'd share.... First, a little backstory:

I've always liked the CB1100, but never lusted after one till I saw pictures and videos of the RS model. That emotion was quickly followed by disappointment when I realized I couldn't get one in America for 2017. Thus, I decided in order to satisfy my craving, I'd need to buy a CB1100 that I could actually get and tweak it some to get the look and feel that I wanted that was inspired by the RS. To reach that goal the most important features to me where ABS, dual exhaust, no wire wheels and not having an all black engine - all signs obviously then pointed towards me getting a used '14 DLX. So, I picked up a low mileage one recently with a pretty thorough plan of what I wanted to to for upgrades and modifications (a year's time and realizing Japan has all the cool stuff will do that for you).

Now, for the interesting bit....

The bike I bought came with a custom high seat. Didn't really want or need that and since I'm going for a lower/leaner look, I thought a '17 EX seat would be an inexpensive option for replacement. So, I researched the parts breakdown and grabbed a part number and called up my local dealer, haggled for a good price and he told me he could get it in 3-4 days shipped direct as an in-stock item from the Honda America warehouse. Well, today I go and pick up the seat.... open the box and to my PLEASANT SURPRISE, there lies a '17 RS seat (with the correct part number I ordered). So, as soon as I get home I go back on line and see that I made the mistake as the EX and RS seat part numbers are one character different (B or D in the part #).

Here's my question.... Is this such a commonly interchanged part that Honda needs to stock it here in the U.S. or is it an indication of parts staging to support the RS model coming to the U.S. (as we know it's already in Canada)?

The seat fits well and is just a tad snug at the tank (although that may be normal). Honestly, I'm glad I made the mistake because this is the seat I wanted in the first place but assumed I couldn't get it.

Had it a week or so but today was the first time I had a chance to ride. Didn’t improve the looks of the bike but I knew that would be the case. Road for an hour and was very comfortable. The stock seat would only allow thirty minutes before I would start to hurt.

It’s an inch taller and at 5’ 11” I can just barely flat foot the bike now. Seth warned me an inch would make a huge difference and I agree. I’ll check the passenger part of the seat later. I’m sure it’s even higher. My wife has a 36” inseam and was super cramped.

Now if the weather would just clear up.

I think under the settings on my camera phone I may have finally sized correctly.

Being a relatively new rider (past 5 years), I am starting to buy new tires for my motorcycles. My question is about what we can expect, as new tire purchasers, on new tire date codes.

Through an online tire retailer, I just today received a set of Metzeler Z8's for my CB1100 (2013), and a set of Metzeler Tourances for my F650GS (2012). The date codes on the Z8 tires are 0415 for the rear and 4417 for the front, and the Tourances are 0416 for the rear and 0516 for the rear.

This makes the rear Z8 a three year old tire and the Tourances are both 2 year old tires. Is this fair and reasonable and to be expected from a "new" tire?

Question time!

I have 2014 standard cb1100 with a givi luggage rack and the stock turn signal assembly. I installed some soft bags affixed to the Givi rack. I don't think I have anything to fear from these bags causing any potential hazards while driving, though they do have the potential to wheel rub.

My conundrum - installing the luggage rack and the (now installed) givi monokey plate was a complete pain in the butt and I'd really love to find a solution that doesn't require me to disassemble all the work. Since I don't have a signal relocation kit I'd like to keep the turn signals in the stock position. IF I HAVE to, I'll take it all apart to install the guards, but I'd need to know if they'd work without something not fitting correctly beforehand, or if anyone knows of a saddlebag guard set (universal or specific fit) that doesn't use the turn signal mounting hardware.

Noticed over the weekend the speedo cover on my 14 standard was loose while I was installing new risers.
It seems the fastener had backed completely out and is mia.
The cover had vibrated around and is scuffed up
Passed by my dealers today and he ordered a new cover, Honda will cover the $ 29.00 cover cost but I have to ride down for them to install it to file a warranty claim.

While there he showed me this CBR, according to him it weighs 394 lbs and has 180 hp

Hi, I’m planning to start motorcycle training next spring, having not ridden a motorcycle since 1984 (Honda 250N Superdream). I got to sit on a CB1100 last year while at the Birmingham bike show in the UK. Being 6ft 1” I did feel as though the bike was a bit low for me. How do other tall guys feel about the CB1100?
