Triumph Bobber at the BRP Country Store

[Houtman_imp]

There was a couple this morning at the store , he rode a nice Gold Wing and she had a nice looking Bobber , very limited suspension on the bike but she had plenty of padding" herself and therefor the ride was not bad at all she said.

The Triumph is actually fun to look at. Interesting choices of customizations.

The Triumph does have a monoshock. Probably not that stiff.

My wife thought hard about one of these before buying her street twin, (which is also a bonneville, just lighter and smaller and with rearsets) but ultimately decided against it because of the weight and the cost. She also said the seat felt like she didn't want to be in it for more than 30 minutes.

My wife has the Speedmaster, both of which will be at the Rally. I believe the suspension has the same as that on the Bobbe and a similar seat, but the Speedmaster has forward controls. Cheryl has not complained about the ride at all.

My brother just bought a Bobber as his first bike. He doesn’t have enough mileage on the bike or on other bikes, to have a comment on ride.

I don’t think her “personal padding” is appreciably contributing to her ride comfort.

Ed on his first 100+ mike ride.

The controls are mids on the Bobber, which Marsha liked a lot because of short legs, but the thing that made the seat so uncomfortable i believe was the handlebar position. It's one of those "neo retro" cruisers that makes you sit in a weird clamshell position....Think like the Ducati Diavel or the Harley Street Rod on the Rebel 1100. For a tall person you can relax into this seating position no problem, but if you're 5'2"....

The ironic thing is the seat is very low, so the 5'2" person is going to be looking hard at the bike because it's one of the few that allows her to reach the ground.

My brother is 5’10 or so and he looks uncomfortable on the bike. He’s going to have to decide for himself if the look of the bike or his comfort is more important. The Speedmaster has the “beach” bars which I don’t live because of the swept back grips. Cheryl likes them, but liked them a bunch more when she added risers that lift the bar by .5” and back 1” (or some similar up and back distances). I’m of the mindset that Ed’s riding experience will be greatly enhanced by adding these, but all I’m doing now is letting him know that he has options.

The Speedmaster can be fitted with the midcontrols pretty easily, but Cheryl (inexplicably to me) prefers the forward ones.

I have the Speedmaster , black and white. The beach bars are a little strange.I just ordered the 1” up risers, haven’t arrived yet. What I’ll probably end up doing is swapping bars. The rear shock is adjustable , mines set on the second softest .The front shocks don’t adjust. Also have forward controls, this was one of the reasons for buying the bike. The CB kept my knees at an uncomfortable angle. Still love the CB for the quality, ride, speed, etc .at my age and condition ergonomics are tough.

RE CB: Understood. I feel and felt the same way. Something had to give.

RE Triumph street bikes: Love riding them, but for me they were significantly worse than the CB.
