Tire Change Pain (In the Wallet)

I'm gonna need an oil change soon, and I'll probably just have it done. It's easy enough to do, but I'd have to lay on the ground to do it, (no lift), and then take the used oil back to where I bought it, only to have them tell me the tank is full (happened before). Too much hassle.

Are you not allowed to leave the used oil (in the empty new oil containers) at the mouth of the service garages?

It is a common practice in southern Ontario Canada. The garage will gather up the jugs of used oil at their convenience and manage it as per their regulatory responsibility.

when i had my 09 sport classic, i literally made the dealership sign, on the ro, they would replace the rims at no cost if they scratched them (motorcycles of charlotte, circa 2014). they didn't scratch them, and it was expensive but they agreed.

the local guy i use for 99% of it does mostly dirt bikes with aluminum spoke rims, was the -only- person i trusted to do these. European rear disc carrier for an rd, and lots of expensive Buchanan's parts custom built.



i would have definitely messed it up.

same here. also, car dealerships -have- to take, it by law here.

You know, I'm not sure. It was illegal in CA, but I've moved to TX, so I don't know. I went to two local shops, and was told they only work on H-Ds. The third shop said he could do it, but had to order the filter, and obtain the oil, since I didn't want full-syn used. I'm a dead dinosaur guy.

To inflate the tire i use a 5 liter weed sprayer with a clear plastic hose which fits over the valve.
Block the hose, build up the pressure make sure the tire is seated on the rim and take the vise grips off the hose, it inflated fine and popped both beads with just the weed sprayer

Hi Dave, good question, i used to have a homemade refrigeration compressor but left it in the previous house.
Thought it may be an idea to someone who does not have an air compressor handy, here is how it fits together;



It just so happens that the clear plastic hose fits snugly into the weed sprayer and over the ( demo ) valve.
The visegrip stops the air going into the tire whilst the pressure is buildt up inside the weed sprayer by the normal means of using the handle, when the safety valve on the weed sprayer starts to hiss the vise grips are released and the air rushes into the new tire.
Also managed to set the bead by using the weed sprayer as it was quicker than using the foot pump.

new shoes tomorrow. 80 bucks labor well spent. Note the orange strap holding the front up from the garage hoist, kaes the whole process that much easier. (not a huge fan of neck stands).
