112MPH?!?

(It's like when you pick up a bottle of beer and it has 16.9 oz in it and you think to yourself. sixteen POINT NINE! why not 16, who made the decision to add the POINT NINE. Do they really think I'll buy it because it has POINT NINE more in it. Then you look below it and see 500ml...uh in the words of Emily Litella (Gilda Radner SNL for those to old or too young)... nevermind!

Yea how come we are not riding CB 69 1/2 CIs?

Why the hell does anyone want to disconnect this thing or go over 112 mph? There is a reason it's there and maybe you don't wanna find out the hard way. It's a free country and I guess we can do whatever we want and experiment in any way we want but you wanna go more than 112 mph, get a bike that's V-rated with the right tires and suspension and go somewhere it's safe.

Stretch, My tires are V rated, according to Bridgestone that's 150MPH speed rating. As far as suspension, this bike far exceeds my 1982 Suzuki GS1100EZ which I've had up to 140mph, bias ply tubed tires ( speedo only goes to 85--- GPS mounted on bike)
Are we going to go the fast, not likely, but its nice to know you can out run a Honda Civic to the exit ramp if need beeeeee!!!!

Doesn't matter to me, but for those in favor of the speed limiter, here's a question: If the bike did not come with the speed limiter but there was an afermarket one for free, would you get it and put it on... And what speed would you set it for?

Wouldn't the 16.9 be the Bakers ounces equivalent? ;) :D

Hey guys...I may have missed something here but are we saying that this bikes top speed in 5th gear is 112mph? I apologize in advance if im being ignorant....But being the law abiding citizen that i am.....based on the reference article about limiting speeds because of people out running the cops in japan..... If the police have the capability of going 112.... I want to have the choice to go 130... or at least 113 ......cuz ya never know....Can someone please tell me how to use the smiley face feature here

when i had my magna, 2003, i would hit a 100 in a blink of the eye....did it many times on the ramp passing cars to get onto the interstate...the thing about it, i did not realize that i was going 100, it felt like 60....

Mike yes our bikes our electronically speed limited to 112 mph. Do yourself a favor, if the police are behind you with lights flashing, pull over. A speeding ticket beats a speeding ticket plus wreckless op, plus eluding, getting to sit in the back of the car with cuffs on and go to jail ticket...thats if you dont crash and burn trying to get away and get really f'd up. IMO

To use the smileys you either have to hit NEW REPLY and then use the smileys, or hit reply and then hit full edit and you can use the smileys. ;)

Ron, you can still hit 100 in the blink of an eye on the CB 1100, just so you know.

While some have questioned the need to exceed 112 mph on the street, I don't think I've seen anyone argue for the inclusion of the limiter itself.

Its interesting that with all the posts on multiple threads about all the moral, safety, mechanical, and sensible reasons not to remove or bypass the speed limiter........ No one is interested in adding such an important feature if the bike didn't already have it.

I don't need one. I have no intention of going that fast. I am not inclined to mandate it for others, but don't think it's a bad idea to be on all street motorcycles. A mfg's agreement of 186 mph for motorcycles intended for the street is crazy in a country where 80 is the maximum legal limit. For race track intended motorcycles, with no lights, turn signals, mirrors, and a special " intended for racing only" title it could have 500 horsepower and go 500 miles per hour for all I care. Race tracks are where limits should be tested, not on public roads.

I am not asking for it, but personally I'd have no problem with a 100 horsepower limit and 125 mph limiter on motorcycles intended for street use.

Can't get away from Big Brother now a days unless you totally go off of the grid and that would include no vehicles as they can trace them... Okay maybe a home made pedal bike might be off of the grid enough... but remember home made as if you buy the materials to make one you put yourself on the grid for big brother...

Im more offended by the stinking cameras that are EVERYWHERE. If you watch NCIS Los Angeles or person of interest, or the old Sandra Bullock movie the Net even, what teh government knows about every one of us scares the crap out of me. Limiting me to going ONLY 112 mph, is one of the lesser intrusions in my life.

I have come to accept the fact that we can't get away from Big Brother, we can't fight Big Brother, and it's only going to get worse. Luckily ( or unluckily depending on how you look at it ) I dont have too many more years on this planet, so it's only going to be a minor annoyance for me, but I really worry for my children and even more my grand children. I'm afraid in this land of the free, they will have very few true freedoms left.

I'm guessing someday vehicles will be governed to the speed limit by GPS, at which time your CB whatever will probably be limited to 70 mph in 70 zones and 10 or 15 in parking lots.

With more and more and more items being computer controlled, ie no more brake pedal pushing a lever and actuating the master cylinder on your car, or even your gas pedal by cable to the motor, now a days it is all electronic switches... Give it a few years and that will all be controlled by big brother.

Just like in the movies, get in a vehicle of some sorts and enter your destination and you end up by there travelling at predetermined speeds and routes.

Keep your CB1100!!!! To get away from all that. Oh wait the rev limiter... shoot that has to go!

Guy's....Now we are seeing the point of my post about a speed limiter. Ferret....I'm with ya on the camera thing....We got cars that think for you.... which means some one somewhere can if wanted or needed.... could make your car do something other that what u wanted it to do and THATS some scary cuss! We have GPS installed in our cars and i can pay for a special plan that i can call a number and they will unlock or start my car bc i lost my keys..if it can be started it can be turned of as well....Intentionally or oops its a computer glitch here ya go....call the toll free # 1-800 yrf-u#kd. We got a major national pizza chain looking at delivery in 10mins or less or its free via Drone technology....OH its just one of those pizza delivery ones its not listening or watching people because we are are all law abiding citizens! Oh....Its a computer glitch that caused that drone to shoot at those people....(that just happened to b some of those Tea Party Anarchists) that got left out of the article btw lol! Ferret ...yes b worried for your kids and grand kids BUT....gentlemen... it's here NOW.....Sooo....as someone stated Who's going to be the one to figure out how let us have the CHOICE to go 113 if we choose to! Wasn't that covered in one of those other threads regarding the rev limiter and how to bypass it? I thought it had been done...

I believe France and Brazil are currently fighting Big Brother. It is amazing how much noise one person can make. Does Snowden ring a bell? It is even more amazing how much noise a Speed Limiter can make. Should we add SPEED LIMITER to Carlins 7 forbidden words?
