Riding the Continent

Sad news PaulStaf regarding the woman and her son.

46 mph or 5.1 L/100 kms sounds about spot on for that kind of highway mileage. Be safe and savour the rides.

Good deal Paul. Again, have fun and stay safe.

Glad you’re enjoying the bike, Paul.

I was traveling at 80 MPH for quite a bit of the journey, or 128 KMH.

Made it home...

Some statistics from the trip:
909 Miles door to door -- 1462 km
19.05 Gallons of gas 72.26 litres (Still have half a tank left)
$48.02 US total fuel costs
Roughly 48 MPG / 20.23 km per litre
Hope my conversions are correct... :D

Tired, but was definitely an adventure!

Awesome Paul!!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. I sure enjoyed mine. Well, except for the BAD thunderstorm. Real BAD storm. But thats another story :)

Update on the book "Riding the Continent" by Canadian motorcycle-naturalist Hamilton Mack Laing.

My pre-ordered book never arrived, but I heard it had been published. I contacted the editor and the publisher and they sent my copy straightaway with apologies.

Absolutely enchanting story. I won't spoil a word of it. It really takes you back to a time, a place, a culture, a society that's long since gone. What's really interesting is that at several places in the story, the author himself laments the vanished world of the recent past from his perspective in 1915.

Well work picking up a copy at USD $19.95.
