New Tires for CB1100

[aschem_imp]

Continental Road Attack 3 CR will be released later this year with sizes that fit the CB1100. I have the 2 CR version, and they are terrific tires for twisty mountain roads.
ContiRoadAttack 3 CR: Perfect choice for heavy, powerful Classic Sport- and Superbikes

How about longevity aschem? How many miles you getting out of a pair?

Not a long-wearing tire for sure. I'll be lucky to get 4k out of rear. I only ride for pleasure in the mountains which are practically in my back yard.
The tires do instill confidence on the twisties.

Figured someone would want to know.

Did you mean 4000 miles...if yes, I do not want them even for free.

My F800GT came with Road Attack 2's from the factory. 450 lb. bike, about 90 hp. They were squared and scalloped within 4k miles. I know they weren't the 3's, but they soured me on Continental.

Peterbaron,
It is a racing compound tire what do you expect?
I'm sure Continental will be sad to hear that you don't want them even for free.

Loneranger,
I had a Pinto, a Vega, that were POS'...I guess I should no longer be interested in Fords and Chevy

[the Ferret]

I'd take em for free. As many sets as they'd give me.

If racing , it explains...

The Web link gives more detail on the tire. I would not consider them for touring purpose or for riding in flat-land states. Pricey tires indeed. Just wanted to let people know they will have a new choice in tires.

Thanks Aachem, appreciate it.
I had a look on the link and could only find 17”. Do they do an 18” or are they only for the RS. (That is on 17” rims, isn’t it?)

Point well taken, but no, I wouldn't buy a Ford or Chevy today, either. As with motorcycle tires, there are other choices in the marketplace which I believe represent a better value.

great hearing about different tires and just to throw in , I run Avon roadriders and will be replacing them with the same as far as i know.
they were on the bike when i got it at 2,200 miles and at 7,000 they still look great and have incredible traction and braking . I hear they are taller than the Michigan pilots which "may" be better in a turn as low profile usually is but so happy with these tires

I love my Continental tires , very good grip in the WNC mountains.
Do not care about mileage , just grip in dry and wet and handling in general.

I just found ANOTHER nail in my rear Angel GT. What the heck?!?

I rode over 10,000 miles on the original Dunlops, and not a single puncture.
Then, I get these awesome new Pirellis, and they're like a magnet for sharp stuff. I'm totally baffled.

So, that makes 3 holes in the rear tire (within about 4,000 miles), and even though it's plugged again and holding air.....I think it's time to replace it.
I know most riders don't trust them, but those rubber strips have worked flawlessly so far. I just don't trust 3 of them in the same tire.

Cheap insurance for peace of mind!

[LongRanger_imp]

That stinks! Murphy's law. Do you ride through construction sites?

I just got a nail in my rear Metzler Z8. It was pretty much at the wear bar any how, with a flat strip down the center. I'm replacing both with the bridgestone bt-54. I only had the original factory tire and it was a bit center worn when I got the bike. I'd be willing to sacrifice a bit of longevity for great grip and confidence. I am just happy to have another option in our 18" sizes. I had a set of the pr3 in the 160/60 but I prefer to run the 140/70. I also prefer to stick to the recommended radial instead of a bias ply because I'm a heavier guy (260lbs). So in Canada its Metzler or Battleax for me...

Jim , were you perhaps a chick magnet when you were younger ?

I've always been attractive to some things, I suppose. Women at first.....then sharp metal objects.

Maybe it's not me though. Maybe it's just my sexy-cool, air-cooled Honda motorcycle. I've been living a lie
