I live in Valparaiso just south east of the city. My wife and I have bicycled the LSD starting at the Museum of Science and Industry area and headed north for a 20 mile route. I throw the bikes in the back of a mini van and head up to the city. It is a beautiful ride on the walking, bike, running path. Anyhow I was just telling my wife this weekend I want to ride by CB1100 up there one Saturday or Sunday this summer and ride the lake shore.

That does sound like a great ride. At the risk of sounding like a total wimp, though, I already spend way more time on the tollways with all the lunatics than I prefer. OK...so what I would do from Milwaukee is get up early...real early...before sunrise early...and high-tail it down 94 into Chicago..East on 55/Congress (you could come in on US41 or US45, but time would be the issue) to LSD then south to the museum campus. Take some awesome pictures of your bike with the museums and/or the skyline as a backdrop, then turn around and head north on LSD and Sheridan Rd and Green Bay Rd. all the way back to Kenosha and have breakfast at Frank's Diner (the 1/2 Garbage Plate is all that I should eat, but I usually order the Full). After that, MAYBE I'd stop at Fuel Cafe for a cup of coffee (or skip breakfast at Frank's and have lunch at Fuel Cafe). THAT would be a good day.Setchman_imp said:

I would be so down for the ride south to the museum campus photo op, then back north to Kenosha for bfast and coffee. After that I'd have to say sayonara, thanks for the company.

At the expense of ditching the motorcycle, the bike path is even more stunning as you get up right next to the lake. I love that curve just south of Oak St. Beach, as on windy days when the waves are choppy, that area will get flooded with water (harmlessly so), but it's entertaining to bike through due to it's mild risk. Great trail indeed. One of the few things I can proudly say tax payer money went well towards.drodg_imp said:

It does get a little hairy around Navy Pier on the bicycle. It is a beautiful ride... I would love to do the ride on the CB. I think I can avoid the toll road by taking 41 through Hammond and East Chicago. I would pick it up at highway 30 or I-94. We should put something together this summer for those who live in the general area.

Count me in, too! Those of you who will be riding LSD for the first time are in for a real treat! 
Have been commuting on LSD ever since I got my brand new '14 DLX inspite of temps in the high 30s to 40s, except for this past weekend when they hit the 70s! Shh, don't tell anyone, but I tend to ride the northernmost stretch much, much faster than the posted speed limit of 40 MPH...! :angel:
BTW, in just 42 days of ownership (7 of those whilst I've been out of town), I've already ridden 515 miles! Absolutely LOVIN' this bike!! Trippin' on LSD... you betcha! So here we come! :banana:
