I believe the OP is Option, as in Option connectors. Honda calls them that in the front of the manual where it shows where everything is. It is the manual for 2013-2017 models. I didn’t look in my ‘13 model manual.

I’m also looking at a wiring diagram for the CB1100CA/NA (After ‘16 model) and it is the only wiring diagram that has an OP fuse. It sends voltage to the 2 (what we call accessory) connectors via a junction connector. Doesn’t go anywhere else.

I know this isn’t exactly like yours, but this info might help.

Interestingly, I think there's a slight difference in wiring on the Australian model. In the wiring diagram, Fuse E is for TURN/CLOCK. On my 2011 Australian bike, it's for CLOCK/OP. (What is 'OP'?) The turn signals are with the STOP/HORN fuse. The Australian bikes do not have Hazard lights. Do they work with the ignition off on US or Canadian spec bikes? I wonder if that's the reason? I've also noted that, with the fuse pulled, the clock still displays with the ignition on.



Further work is delayed for a day or so due to the removal of a couple of basel cell carcinomas from the back of my leg (one of the joys of ageing in Australia). It means I have to rest the leg and try to keep it elevated for a little longer.

A few ideas:
1.make sure the fuse cover is properly oriented, otherwise you might be pulling out a wrong fuse
2. when the ign is OFF, pull out the clock/OP fuse , start your bike an run for few minutes to see if the clock will go off... it may?? have a "cell" or capacitor that keeps feeding the clock for some time. Before reinstalling the removed fuse, always turn OFF the ignition to prevent voltage spike
3. none of my electrical diagrams show clock/op, so you may have slightly different circuit due to 2010
4. you may also pull out any other fuse to see if the clock goes off... most likely I woud start with meter-ill or stop-horn-turn... and same pricaution applies as indicated in #2

Today's update:

1. The fuse box cover is properly oriented — even if it weren't it would be hard, even for me, to be confused as the internal layout can align only one way with the diagram on the cover.
2. If I remove the Clock/OP fuse and turn on the ignition, the clock turns on and works. However, it does not retain its memory and has reset to 1:00 when I again turn on the ignition.
3. If I remove the Meter/Illumi fuse the instruments (including the clock) don't work.
4. The power for the unused accessory connector in the headlight bucket is fused by the Meter/Illumi fuse.

I've checked the connectors in the headlight bucket and they seem ok. The clock is keeping time at last check, but it has done that before and then subsequently reset, so I'll check again in the morning. If there's still a problem, I guess I'll take the instrument cover off again and check the connectors on the instrument panel.

It seems to me the clock can get power from two sources — one when the ignition is on and the instruments get power via the Meter/Illumi fuse; and the other when the ignition is off and the clock is kept powered by the Clock/OP fuse. I can't see from the wiring diagram that the Clock/OP fuse does anything other than power the clock when the ignition is off.

I've no idea how the memory of the trip meters is retained.

Very often, in automotive, by dis & reconnecting a connector an issue is rectified by itself..

Nah. Turned on the bike this morning and the clock had reset. Guess I'll just have to pull the cover off the instruments and reseat the connections.
