The flaw in this reasoning became clear as Marquez was sliding about at the end, trying desperately to hold off Rossi's charge. A wiser move would have been to accept the inevitable and let Rossi through, settle for the 20 championship points. The heat of battle can trump proper reasoning though, especially in the younger mind. The ferret_imp said:My understanding is some riders were going with the hard hoping to build up an insurmountable lead over the guys running super hards and hoping to be able to hang on long enough to finish.CB4ME_imp said:Marquez is currently 30 points behind the lead. Yes it's way too early to draw conclusions, but a Marquez under pressure has been prone to mistakes in the past.
And speaking of mistakes, why did Marquez change from a super hard tire on the starting grid?
