Am finally getting away for my annual 2-wheel tour. Last year was coast to coast. This year decided more of a north-south western states thing. A bit hot, but doable. Got new oem handle bar grips ... what a difference. Hope to use tapatalk to post some photos of interesting places .... are there any interesting places in west? Roughed out google map plan: Google Maps

Looks a good trip bflint. Have a great ride.

I'll look forward to pictures and reports.

Wonderful areas to ride through. Have fun, stay safe bflint.

Are you really going to just ride the interstate? I mean, maybe that's your thing, but ... there are TONS of better riding roads out there. Two-lane highways, secondary roads and scenery galore. What are you riding, a rocket?

If you zoom in on that map link you shared, you can see all the other doable roads you could consider.

I've driven almost everything on your map, I5, I90, I15, 20, 191, all but a little on your North / South Dakota loop and would rather cut my wrists then just drone away on an interstate...

101 north of Crescent City is way better then taking I5 north through Oregon... and the road around Olympic National Park is cool, as are many of the other routes you're going to blast on by, but if you've got to have maximum distance and speed, then the freeway is the way to do it.

Geez, that's a goodly load you've got there, bflint. It's a right workhorse this CB of ours.

I hope you are safely up to it bflint.

That is a lot of gear on a bike. The bag on the front fender is a bit worriesome to me.

Again, safe travels bflint.

Yeah... I always carry a full load because weather/ needs always changing. Roll bag on fender works ok without interfering with oil cooler. Made to Idaho Snake River destinations .. Hagerman, Twin Falls (Evil Kenevil jump spot), Shoshone Falls , Idaho Falls.. leaving for Wyoming today.

Made it to Idaho Falls yesterday to visit relatives (uncle was a B17 tail gunner and passed down some pretty amazing war tales) then on thru Jackson Hole WY and Tetons. Hope to make Mt Rushmore tomorrow.

I am so excited to follow along on your trip progress! Sounds like you are moving pretty quickly. Do you plan to stop and spend a day here and there?

ALSO I’m planning my first big solo motorcycle trip right now and would love tips on how you load up your CB. Did you put a sissy bar on? How do you carry extra fuel? What products work best?

Thanks!

Long haul, love these trips, wish I had one... and beautiful US places ...
My US dream trip: around Grand Canyon, Arizona, Utah, Nevada
:biker: safe

No sissy bar. Just soft luggage.... saddle bags with integrated tail bag , roll bag , tank bag , and 70 liter dry sack bungees on back. Can provide specific s when I get back. Have 1/2 gallon spare gas in two back pack fuel bottles.

Trying to avoid any roadways that start with an “I”.
