GenMar X102 Risers
#1

Received my GenMar X102 Offset Risers and during the install, noticed the front mounting bolt holes are not centered in the larger holes. Everything fits snug but when tightening the front bolts, the bolt heads are against the edges of the larger holes, thus the round bolt heads have a large gap on the front edge and no gap on the bottom edge. I've been in contact with GenMar but so far, no resolution. Anyone else experienced this?

Can you post up a close up pic of the problem?

So I'm guessing they drilled the holes slightly off center? If you put on the plastic bolt head cover, does it cover it up? If so, I wouldn't worry about it myself.

Any problems with getting enough slack in cables, lines, etc?

Yes, I can see the off-center bolt holes with the naked eye. The plastic bolt covers go on the bolt heads--very tight fit--, but the gaps are still visible.

I moved the front brake line to the inside of the wire guide which holds the throttle cables in place. This provided enough slack to install the offset risers with no problems. Electrical wires were no problem.

Thanks for the info.

Problem solved. GenMar stated a change in suppliers resulted in their receiving a slightly larger diameter bolt head (which is what I got and wouldn't seat completely in the riser). They had to install a pair of the risers on a cycle to see what I was talking about and they quickly saw it with their own eyes. New bolts with smaller diameter heads were to be mailed today.

Just for kicks, I measured the diameter of the bolts sent with the risers and compared it to the diameter of the Honda bolts I removed to install the X102 risers (new bolts came with the risers). The Honda bolt diameter measured a consistent 12.80mm whereas the bolt head with the risers were 13.1mm. Does not sound like very much difference, but it was enough to prevent the plastic bolt head covers from seating fully. (See pic in post #3). The gap between the bolt head and the hole in which it mounts is because the bolt head hole is elongated to accommodate these risers on Suzuki cycles, as well as others. I don't like that gap, since it is just on a portion of the riser, but I guess I am picky about cosmetics.
