Custom painted helmet
#1

I guess this qualifies as an "accessory"?!

I'm not a loud, wild graphics kind of guy when it comes to helmets, but I really wanted something different on mine, something sporty, would stand out a bit, and yet would somehow match the CB. I had a basic black Shoei RF-1100 that I hardly wore, just aching for some snazzyin' up, so it was the perfect candidate for some experimentation. This is what I came up with:

Not at all garish, pretty sporty, you could even call it a little retro. Should look awesomely bitchin' with a smoked shield. Big Grin
The painter used my side cover to match the red part of the paint, and it looks spot-on. We played with all combinations of stripe widths, etc. I initially wanted the center stripe wider, but as we played around with sizes, this looked better due to all the danged vents over the front and back surfaces the stripes had to pass over/around/through.
A couple of coats of clear over the red and black paint, then hand-sanded with progressively finer paper, and then buffed. Just like what you'd expect on a high-quality automotive paint job. The finishes on his helmets are like glass. It's hard to comprehend that are often a dozen or so separate color applications involved.
Work done by Designs by Smokey in San Clemente, CA. Great guy to work with, who does A1 quality stuff.

Lovely work, Papa Weeley. Look forward to photos of you wearing it on the CB.

Looks great! A black and wine Joe Rocket mesh jacket would complete the look. Cool

Thanks, guys!
I'm just over the moon about how this came out. Seems like every time you picture something in your head, seeing it in reality is almost always a disappointment. This was the complete opposite - it turned out even better than I'd pictured it.

And turns out, it looks even better with a smoked shield:
