Time for performance upgrades, like use some tips.
#1

While my bikes apart it's time to wake up this slug a little. Based on some past info I'm looking at a reflash of the ECM and clean up the air intake somewhat. Will I need a power programmer in addition to the ECM reflash and what can I do to clean up the air intake? Once the bike is back together I'm going to make a KERKER replica slip on. Thanks for the info.

As far as I know the only intake modification that will change performance is opening the velocity stacks up. Powerdubs and a few others have done it.

I'm in middle of doing it but will have to wait to install it when I get a full exhaust.

The TSR plate that goes on the airbox does indeed make a slight improvement at higher revs- very slight though.

I have added:

ECU re-flash
Power Commander V
K&N Air filter. (not a "power" mod really)
Yoshimura full exhaust
Race-Tech forks
Ohlins shocks

The re-flash didn't really add power. It raises the rpm by 500 revs and provides power to those last 500, but I don't ride nearly that close to the limit. It also removes the "speed limiter" that tells the bike to throttle down when the ECU detects a specific mph.

The Power Commander was night and day difference! Huge difference. Completely changed the personality of the bike.

Did you have a custom tune or did you use 1 of the 3 maps power commander has on the site? This is the second time I've heard people saying they felt a big difference from the power commander but I did not so im thinking maybe I should try a different map?

I believe the previous person that stated this said they used the "Stock with yoshi slip on" map that was online.

I have almost all the same mods as you minus suspension and exhaust

I noticed a big difference as soon as I installed it, but I also improved it by having it custom-tuned.

I bought my CB1100 while I was working at a Honda dealer. There was a mobile tuner that would come to the store twice a year to tune bikes in a big trailer in the parking lot. I like what he was able to do.

A lot!

Not the TSR branded piece but same exact thing, just installed one on my CB along with a K&N filter last weekend

I'm shooting some emails out to get quotes to tune the power commander once I drop the velocity stacks in and slap an exhaust on.

So on this topic I just updated the firmware on my Power commander V and took a look at the map I had on there to fix that cruising speed instability I had after the ECU flash.

- I was using the "Stock Filter, Stock exhaust" map from dyno jets website. This map mostly richens the mixture in a bunch of places.

- I loaded up the "Stock filter, Yoshi RS-3 slip on" map (only other option on their site) and this map mostly leans out the mixture in a bunch of places.

Since I have a shorty free flowing muffler i figured I would try the 2nd map for the yoshi out and see if I notice any difference. Has anyone else experimented between the 2 provided maps from Dyno Jets website?

I'm not able to ride for awhile so probably gonna have a buddy take it out for me thats ridden it before hand and see what they report back.
