Seat cushion, custom padding, horn placement
#1
I bought a 2013 last November with only a few hundred miles. I'm still having fun. A couple of minor annoyances:

(1) Riding in the winter, I keep hitting that damn horn with my big fat gloves. Annoying. I'm thinking of trying to move the horn so it's slightly less prone to accidental beeps.

(2) After a couple of hours riding my butt hurts. Thinking of getting an Airhawk seat cushion. Or maybe a custom seat?

Suggestions on air hawk sizing?I tried sizing the seat but after measuring the thing a thousand times, I still can't decide which air hawk size would fit.

Alternatively, suggestions on where/how to get a quality, comfy, custom seat padding?

Suggestions on the annoying horn bumping?

I hit the horn a lot by accident with my lightweight gloves.

Installed a removable time delay on my cb1000r, horn activates 0.5 sec. after the button is pushed,
the button is pushed, the resistor charges the capacitor over time, voltage rises to the point it is enough to attract the relay, the contacts close and the horn sounds;

It worked, no more accidental horn, the buttons on the cb1000r were reversed from the other Honda models i own, it became an annoyance, technology to the rescue.

Parts; small relay, 2200uf capacitor and 100 or so ohm resistor, done.

My challenge is finding the horn in the first place. Dodgy

Well, maybe in the 345th place.

I have the Airhawk medium cruiser cushion. It’s great.

I put the 2014 horn/indicator button on my 2013 , makes a LOT more sense to have the indicator lower as you use it more than the horn.

I put the '13 controls on my '14, as well as the '13 blinkers.... looks much more period correct.

For seats, back in the day when I had my H-D Sportster 1200 Roadster, I took the seat to a local upholstery shop and had them add in some more foam. It wasn't a huge improvement, but it was somewhat better. I still sold it cause it was too uncomfortable, but in those days I was riding it on the 91 frwy out to Hesperia, and the 91 was notorious for it's uneven, poorly laid slabs of concrete.

You could try some https://motoskiveez.com/

I have a pair and they do provide a nice bit of extra comfort. Not 10 hr day extra comfort but they do make a longer journey more bearable. They are not super thick like cyclists shorts either so they don't show through most clothing.

By almost all accounts I’ve read here, you’re doing pretty good if you can make it 2 hours in the stock seat before you need a break.

Since I only ride solo I bought a K&H solo cafe and it’s an improvement over the stock seat. They can be custom ordered in a number of configurations for your specific height and weight. I believe we have one for sale currently on our site.
