I am pretty anal when it comes to my motorcycle maintenance and keeping my bikes clean. While cleaning my bike yesterday I was surprised to discover rust and corrosion on my handlebars. This rust and corrosion was completely hidden from view, located on the underside, specifically beneath the cables and the cable tie wraps, near the sharp bends approaching the levers and switches - on both sides. It cleaned up nicely using grade 0 steel wool, but I thought I would mention it hear so others can inspect their bikes. Please let me know if this post was helpful.

Lucky for some of us washing the bike in winter is not really a practical option.

Being a lord I have people to do that for me. So I sent him out and I didn’t, uh, I mean he didn’t see any rust.

I recall the '14 CB1100 would rust a little bit after each winter. Other than the chain, chrome parts were restored like new with a little "Perl" polish in the spring time.

Could it be that your CB is often parked within 50 miles from the shores ? I have seen CB/s from 2013, low or little owner care, and not one stain after 6 or 7 years.
