I just got the rack from the Honda dealer.
The part in the catalog was discontinued; instead they substituted this part:
08L70-MGC-A40
It came with NO instructions.
There's a number of bushings; two triangular black brackets...and I can't see how it would just bolt on without damaging the plastic fitting that holds the turn-signals; or how they would be re-located. Whether the plastic rectangular assembly goes OUTSIDE the frame.
Anyone have an exploded diagram or installation instructions?

You remove the four (two per side) bungee cord studs, the bushings replace them. Keep things loose, I did the front bolts first then the rear - but I had the stock 2013 Honda rack. No trianglular brackes so I'm no help there.

FYI: You didn't say if your bike is a 2013 or a 2014 model. I own a 2014 DLX, and I purchased my rack from my local Honda dealer. I had him personally phone a factory representative to determine if the rack he had listed (for a 2013 model) would fit the 2014, and they ensured him it would. Well it took me all of about 10 minutes of trying to install it to discover the rack for the 2013 model will not fit the 2014 model (I should have read the thread somewhere else on this site where a member stated this). I returned the rack to the dealer and ordered the correct one from Samurider (
http://www.samurider.com). The correct part number for the 2014 rack is 08L70-MGC-N40.

To be blunt, most dealers are idiots for this bike. Due your due diligence here first.

Your Honda site requires a membership and login, unfortunately.
I just got the "Your Session Has Expired" page.
I know it's the two studs that come out and are replaced by the longer kit bolts. But the kit bolts are in two different lengths.
There's two flat bushings and two flanged bushings. The flanged bushings fit inside the rack frame - is the flanged side inside or out?
The black plastic strip that holds the taillight assemblies...none of the bushings fit into the recessed stud-hole for those. And then there were the triangular black pieces with holes drilled...what are THEY for?
Okay...reading the "How To" thread, most of my questions are answered.
Thanks for the link.

Passin,
No membership required. Just AGREE, then HONDA USER, and then NEXT. Then select whatever you are looking for.
If you ever get the session expired page, just click on the return to the top, or whatever in the upper right hand corner.

Got it on.
It LOOKS okay; it's snug; nothing's obviously distorted.
The amount of "superfluous parts" is enough to give one pause.
MY guess is...Honda combined this rack with one for others, and put enough parts in for several types of installation.

I too have found this to be the case.

Couldn't get this to work but YES, hit "Top Page" and then follow your instructions, worked great. Thank you for sharing.

In looking at Ptero's install I didn't notice any mention of the triangle thingies, sorry "Garnish Stays" and the Honda instructions, which are for both 2014 Standard and Deluxe, only show them being used on the DLX (SA in the instructions). I guess my point is that if its a Standard then the triangle thingies should be left over without concern ?
