I just received my letter from Honda offering to extend my factory warranty 4 years for $726....although its nice to have that piece of mind, I normally skip extended warranties, looks like I'll put about 5K miles on it for the first year, maybe for those out there who put >10K miles a year it would be worth it? Anyone signing up?

Honda is betting $726 that your bike will NOT break down in the next 4 years.
They sound pretty confident.

If you search the internet for Honda CB1100 extended warranties , you will find a lot better pricing than that if you are considering the extended warranty. The warranties are from established Honda dealers and I bought the extended warranty on mine and my dealer matched the internet price which was way lower.

Never bought one and never wished I had bought one. It's a Honda!
But seriously, since I do my own wrenching, I wouldn't have much use for one anyway.

I agree! I never pay for a warranty for anything and I figure with all the money I've saved over the years that I can afford to replace anything that fails and I'm still money ahead.

Very good points. Over here in England car manufacturers make a big song and dance about their class leading 5 and 7 year warranties, particularly firms like Hyundai and Kia. What people overlook is that the car MUST be serviced by them for that whole time, at main dealer labour rates, and using genuine parts.
That will more than outweigh the cost of the warranty they give you, in additional over inflated servicing costs.
I won't bother, it's like when the guy at the dealership asked if I wanted tyre insurance, I explained that since I was buying an old mans bike, I'd skip the tyre insurance to leave some danger and jeopardy in my boring life!

Tire insurance? I could have used that...
I was thinking of the extended warrenty, but after they wouldn't fix my rear brake under the regular warranty, I lost confidence in Honda honoring any warranty so I'm not buying one.
Yeah ferret, I'm still pissed that I had to fix it.

Wow. I overpaid for my extended warranty. I'm approaching the 1 year ownership mark. Thinking to cancel and get the money back before it kicks in. I should have researched it more.

When worked at the HD dealership, extended warranties, road-hazard policies, credit-life policies, were all considered "found money," as in you were walking along and there it was, lying on the ground. Selling any or all of these add-ons was highly compensated; an F&I person more than doubled their cut of the deal if they sold one or two of these.
One more comment based on my direct, personal experience: the guys who write the HD policies put in some very slick exceptions that deleted some very common failures from the coverage. I don't have personal experience with Honda's extended warranty, but if you do buy one, I'd look very closely at the details. "Bumper to bumper coverage" is a nice slogan, but it doesn't mean squat when cuss breaks. Fer'instance: can you really prove you met all the warranty maintenance requirements?
