I thought the bars are higher on my 14 dlx than they were on my 13. Seems I sit up straighter. Looked them up and different part numbers for the bars.
Went out to the bike, turned the bars so that the wheel was straight ahead, laid a flat edge across the top of the master cylinders and measured down to the top of the bars...5"
Could someone do the same on a 13 please?

Hmmm that's close enough that I could be statistically wrong in my measurement lol
I was expecting an inch less.

I was going to describe what I did, but then realised I couldn't quite remember so I fossicked around for an old tape with inches on it and went back for another try. I put the straight edge so it touched the corners of the master cylinders and measured from the bottom of it to the top of the bars. It said a smidge (Australian for a small amount) under 4½ inches. I reckon you'd feel that difference.
Sorry for the earlier inaccuracy.

Yep. I did about the same thing, although the straight edge was aligned with the two front inner corners of the master cylinders. It was just under 4½". As I say, I think you'd notice it.

Mickie, I'm convinced the whole frame is bigger. The bike sits taller and not as cramped as the 13. I'd measure the distance from the ground to the top of the bars and then check the difference in the seat heights. I bet you'd see the difference that way. They changed that frame... why else would the rack not fit?

The '13 and '14 frames do have different part numbers.

The US Honda site only lists one set of specs for the CB1100. Is there a difference in seat height between the standard and DLX and could this account for the DLX feeling larger? Are the frame part numbers the same for the 2014 standard and DLX?
