After having picked up a nail last week, I today got my bike back with a new set of Metzeler Z8. I was really happy with these, and they had done perhaps 12 or 13'000 km. To be honest, the rear could have lasted for longer if I would not have had a puncture, but the front was pretty close to being worn out.
Now I just need a proper ride to get the feeling of the rear going flat out of my head, so as to regain full confidence again.

What you have in front and how many kms ?

I replaced both rear and front with the Metzeler Z8. Both had done about 13'000 km, and the front at that point was pretty much finished.

Giving into consideration that M-Z8 are more sport tires, 13 Kms for the front is satisfactory, especially city? riding..
I will need my front next season for sure.

I have a feeling that if you do a lot of straight line riding, they may not last as long. I have seen people complaining about the wear on them and it seems to be more when doing highway riding. I can imagine city riding might be the same.
Otherwise I have been really happy with them. I like the profile, and the grip has been good.No problem when riding fairly hard on twisty roads.Then again, I find that the suspension of the CB1100 give up far sooner than the tires, and it is a bike that should not be pushed too hard in any case. This means the Z8 are more than competent.

First was a screw. Second and Third were of unknown origins.

Carrying a repair kit to prevent flats is like carrying an umbrella to prevent rain, then? LOL

Just a follow up - Opted for the internal patch/plug. 800 miles since that installation and tire holds air better than it did before the patch. Well, that could be my imagination, but it's holding air so far.

Internal, mushroom type patch are the second best.

I think that’s what they used. He mentioned it was a patch with a rubber nipple. I giggled and told him that Rubber Nipple was my garage band’s name in the 80’s
