My CB "clunks" into gear when I downshift gears - particularly first and second gear. By "clunking" I mean that there is a very physical sensation as the gears transition. The clunk is not limited to instances when the bike is moving and I downshift to engine brake. It happens when the bike is not moving and I downshift as well.
Upshifting is smooth.
Thank you for any input.
I went to a lighter motoroil. I'm using a 5-20 synthetic, works smooth and quiet now!

Deja vu?
(yikes)
That is different - especially for hot weather riding and air-cooled engine?

I switched to Liqui Moly 10W-60 a few years ago, not just for the CB1100 but for all my bikes, especially because a whole bunch of them were air/oil-cooled. To be honest I haven't seen a huge difference in the way engines ran, but the oil would seem much less dark then what I was used to before, so I decided to stick with it.
Some mechanics here told me that a heavier oil requires a shorter cycle, but I haven't found any actual information backed up by evidence on that matter. Then again I do the oil changes more often then recommended anyways because of the weather conditions. Anyone has any actual information about this?

On an Aprilia I didn't use "Liqui Moly", but a different French brand of oil that was 10W60. It wasn't cheap and is was Aprilia who recommended it as an alternative oil in North America. Over time I switched to 5W40 and didn't notice any difference performance, mechanics nor engine sounds. I did notice a change in the oil change cost.
Both oils were full synthetic.

Into first at a light is normal, but a rev-matching downshift should be like butter. I see you live in LA. I am in Orange Co., bring it over and I'll ride it and check it out for you.
