They will need to smog gas powered leaf blowers before they smog motorcycles. There a lot more leaf blowers than motorcycles and they put out significantly more pollution than motorcycles ever will. I think the difference is that they can yearly assess ( tax if you will) those with motorcycles through licences, plates and registrations whereas there is no current means of assessing leaf blowers, chain saws, law mowers, weed whackers other than at initial purchase... ie motor vehicles are an easier target for the tax assessor.

Is there any way to tune our bikes now and remove the upper speed limit?

The only way that’s been reported here was to get Don Guhl to reflash the ECU to remove it. As he will no longer do it, the answer is probably no.

California is working on banning all "off-road" small gasoline engines, like leaf-blowers, hedge-trimmers, etc. Where I live, west of Phoenix, Arizona, you will hear those engines running all day as landscapers trim the yards of the homes. They will spend twenty minutes blowing a pile of leaves they could have swept up with a rake and thrown on the truck in two minutes.

So the majority of CB1100’s are locked at 112mph? Poor guys… However, I was able to google some “Power Commander” stuff, or reflashing the stock ECU in a different country (I’ve found Australia). Worth trying I guess, if you don’t want your bike to be restricted.

The power commander only adjusts fuel on our bikes- has nothing to do with ign curves or rev limiters

Is there someone in Australia who can reflash the CB1100 ECU?

Thanks Jurlie. If you’re thinking about it, check carefully that it’s the right ECU. The first of our iteration of the CB1100 anywhere was not until 2010. I don’t understand the 2008.
