On dual disks, I usually don't need to do it.
^^+1^^, occasional squealing does not necessarily indicate a problem.

"occasional squealing" for my ex is every single time I brake to a stop! It's strange, I had a '14 standard and it never squealed at all. But it seems the '17ex slow speed squeal started around 500 miles.
I thought about taking it in to dealer, but after reading all what VLJ did last year to find a fix for the problem, and for them to conclude, "meh, brakes do that"... didn't bother.

Squealing brakes may not represent a problem, per se, but they're definitely a constant annoyance. In stark contrast to the CB's otherwise overall high level of refinement, its squealing brakes stick out like a sore thumb.
Simply put, it shouldn't happen. Honda should not allow it to persist.
pdedse, the accident was last October 29th. For Halloween I had the easiest costume: ICU Feeb!

With so many people having the same problem, isn't there a way to prepare a joint letter from "all of US", from a forum group, directed at Honda. May be the forum admin can help since "all of us" do not have a return address for an answer. This would show Honda how serious the problem is, more than any complaint from a single customer ever could. I think given price and expectations raised by the sales department we deserve a "fix".
I do not know how to get admin's attention for such a think, may be sb could help ?

My 2019 EX doesn't seem to squeal, but perhaps it's the same frequency as my tinnitus so I just don't hear it!

j3qq, where the CB1100 is concerned, Honda clearly doesn't care about the U.S. market. They haven't offered the bike here since 2017, and there are no plans to offer it here again. They aren't going to go back now and revisit a minor-annoyance issue afflicting a one-year-only, low-volume-seller model like the CB1100.
Unless you are willing to fabricate your own solution, similar to Triumph's permanent fix, or, perhaps, replace the entire rotors/calipers assembly with something different, you're just going to have to live with it.

I think it is very simple : Honda did not sell enough CB 1100 in the 3 years they had them available in the USA.

Read something about tighter emissions restrictions making it unfeasible for American Honda to produce another air-cooled motor for this market.
This, on top of the common-sense observation that Honda has continued to update and offer the CB1100 in other markets while allowing it to die on the vine here.

I wouldn't put it past Honda to throw another one our way.

The CB1100 would still be handsome when liquid cooled, no?
Does a bike, mostly a seasonal vehicle, pollute that much?? Idling vehicles pollute much more, IMHO.
Maybe governments should first go after all modified exhaust when cats are deliberately being removed.
I failed every single DOT inspection if no cats when mandatory equipped with.
