My bike just came back from a service.
The bike has 6k miles.
Work was significant as apparently I needed front brake pads, airfilter along with usual oil and filter.
How many miles do people get out of their pads?
I thought 6k is early but then again I do a lot of city ride.
More frustrating is a slight vibration from the engine that wasn't there before. I thought I may be imagine it but don't think so as I can see the rear view mirrors shaking ever so slightly while idling in the traffic lights. Trying to see what could that be. Could they have used wrong oil and cause that?

6K miles does seem very early for a pad, mine were barely worn at that mileage but then I am not a city rider. They needn't of changed the air filter, it has a very long life and has a large surface area. It is only to be replaced if "excessively dirty or damaged" otherwise it can just be "blown with compressed air from the outside". Given that they have changed other unnecessary items I can quite imagine they have used whatever oil they had lying around. The spec is 10W-30, it is possible a marginal change in tickover, even by a few revs has introduced the vibration by a different weight oil. There is a balance shaft adjuster on the front right hand side of the engine, ask them if they messed with that at all, set incorrectly and it can introduce vibration. There would be no reason for them to touch it though.

Agreed. 6000 clicks for (front and back?) brake pads feels significantly short, unless you ride mostly off-road.

Thank you all for your replies. I didn't get to see the pads but in fairness didn't think of asking to retain. They are pricey little buggers aren't they?
I went back to the shop and discussed what oil they used and looks OK to me.
Had another ride and the vibration is really intermittent and very mild.
