Passenger Comfort

A lot depends on age and condition of passenger. My wife is 61, used to riding pillion on a Honda ST with a trunk and floorboards. I took her a ride on the CB and she found the seat too small, the pegs too high and small, and with no trunk she felt insecure. When she first started riding with me in 1973 we toured 2 up on bikes like an RD 350 or a TX 650. Your expectations of comfort change over time. At 21 she would not have complained about the CB, at 61 it no longer fits her idea of comfort.

How true. My wife passed away 5 years back so my only passenger (50% of the time) is my 12 year old daughter. She hates the goldwing 'cause it's way too comfortable and quiet. She loves the CB 'cause it's open, upright, and feels more like a real motorcycle with wind in the face. Though she does complain of discomfort after about an hour's ride. She feels equally the same with our CBR500R bike.

My condolences about your wife. Glad you and your daughter are able to make some special memories together. They will mean a lot to her later in life.

Thanks. I feel the same as well. It does bug me sometimes when she states that she'll be getting a 600RR when she's of age

I'm getting ready to take the plunge on a CB1100 and I'm trying to find out how this thing does 2 up and would like to hear from anyone who has any passenger experiences. I'm looking to get the Honda rear rack and the NC Plexistar 2 and am looking for a nice passenger backrest.
