I'm getting ready to take the plunge on a CB1100 and I'm trying to find out how this thing does 2 up and would like to hear from anyone who has any passenger experiences. I'm looking to get the Honda rear rack and the NC Plexistar 2 and am looking for a nice passenger backrest.
Thanks!

im glad to see this thread as I am also looking for a back rest. I emailed
http://www.samurider.com/. Asking about a back rest for te Honda assessory luggage rack. He didn't have one that would work for that piece. Anyone out there having any lucky finding a back rest?

Someone here had purchased the Corbin seat and it had the backrest option. That is the only one I've seen.

A lot of the top boxes have backrests built into them. I think that's why they don't have one for the factory rack.

I have ridden with my girlfriend quite a bit and it's a lot of fun for rides up to about an hour. I have no backrest so she holds on to me. :-) Let me point out that even though the Honda rear rack has no backrest it does have great hand rails on both sides. Putting a hand on even one of them makes passengers pretty secure without holding on to the rider. The seat strap works fine but the handrails on your rack are even better. If your darlin' is insecure back there you can also bungee a small sleeping bag, rolled up jacket, or tail bag on that rear rack that will double as a back rest until a bolt on rest becomes available. Cheers.

A lot depends on age and condition of passenger. My wife is 61, used to riding pillion on a Honda ST with a trunk and floorboards. I took her a ride on the CB and she found the seat too small, the pegs too high and small, and with no trunk she felt insecure. When she first started riding with me in 1973 we toured 2 up on bikes like an RD 350 or a TX 650. Your expectations of comfort change over time. At 21 she would not have complained about the CB, at 61 it no longer fits her idea of comfort.

How true. My wife passed away 5 years back so my only passenger (50% of the time) is my 12 year old daughter. She hates the goldwing 'cause it's way too comfortable and quiet. She loves the CB 'cause it's open, upright, and feels more like a real motorcycle with wind in the face. Though she does complain of discomfort after about an hour's ride. She feels equally the same with our CBR500R bike.

My wife enjoyed the Bonneville with low sissy bar but I could bever hget her on a sports bike. On the CB1100 she is comfortable the first hour on the stock seat provided that a roll bag is securely fastened to the Honda rear carrier, but a true back rest and a higher seat should extend her comfort for several hours.
I'm seriously contemplating asking a local fabracator if they can somehow attach a back rest pad with mounting bracket and low risers to the front on the rear carrier. That, combined with a KandH high-seat should be the ticket.

Interesting; this would be much less expensive as an option than the Corbin saddle. I think I'll take your advice and order one up.
