How come there was were only white CB1100's available in Canada, and the US got the Red ones.....honda can suck balls!!
Nice that they provide so many choices.....
If there are any US dealers on the forum can you tell me if there is any issues with coming south and getting a red CB and bringing it back up north? Seems like there are lots left in the states, only 3 white ABS bikes in all of Canada. Guess thats why they only allowed 75 bikes to come here....hard to sell bikes if you don't actually put them in the showrooms.....great marketing.

Wish we could explain. You know you can get cars in lots of colors. Since only the tank is painted (as far as body parts go) on this bike, it seems this would have been a great opportunity to offer multiple colors to the buying public. Stocking an extra couple of gas tanks at each dealer and then letting them return unused tanks at years end for full credit would have allowed them to do that.

Coopsta, welcome to the asylum! Maybe you should consider getting a red tank. Or, better yet, find someone in the U.S. who wants a white tank and make a trade.

Good idea, and certainly part of the solution. The red US version has the motor blacked out as well. Very desirable colour scheme as far as I am concerned. Up in Canuckistan the white version is just plain aluminum motor...probably clear coated or whatever. It looks like a sickly albino stepchild......There is a huge difference in what I would call desirability in your bikes vs the left over POS color we got hung with.

Funny, the first year they went on sale in Australia, I believe it was 2010, they brought out both a white and red tank, but no stripe on the tanks. Next year they brought out black and dark blue I think (but no red or white!) Go figure...

Coopsta, I don't mind the all silver engine, in fact, I think it looks good on the all black bikes that I hope they import to the U.S. next year. I like the all silver wheels on the black bike too. But, I agree that the white bikes would look good with the black engine and wheels. I have always liked white bikes, though.

As Ferret has already mentioned, this motorcycle is fairly unique, as in there's only one part of the motorcycle that would need to be changed in order to completely change the look of the whole motorcycle--the gas tank. In contrast, when I changed the color of my ST1300 (from black to white), I had to purchase 13 (14?) different body panels. And, it was a pricey, involved change that took me quite a few hours.
Because the CB11 only requires a gas tank switch in order to change its whole personality, maybe Honda hasn't even considered it. Most other motorcycles have multiple body parts, and sometimes the installation process is quite involved.
I like his idea of shipping over new CB1100's, with an abundant supply of different colored gas tanks. The purchaser could then choose the color of his tank before taking delivery, and the Service Department would only need an hour or so to make that switch happen.
We all know the CB11 project was very different from other new motorcycle designs. Maybe allowing dealer-installed changes at the time of purchase would be a great way for Honda to generate more sales, and provide the buyer with his own unique bike when it first rolls off the showroom floor.

Harley makes a fortune selling custom painted tanks for their bikes. Since Honda is after the same market demographic, (older guys buying for reasons other than strictly performance) maybe they should consider doing the same.
Maybe cb11forum.com could host a painted parts exchange.
