I took a 25 mile test ride today on a CB1100, I was really looking forward to getting to ride the motorcycle.
It wasn't what I was expecting, I love the way it looks, and it is a Honda which is always a good thing.
I was disappointed in the power and it was kind of buzzy, hadn't rode an inline 4 for about 35 years so I wasn't sure what to expect, but coming off a BMW R1150R it is way way different.
I still want to like the bike though!
Do you get used to the vibes when it hits about 4500 rpm and above[/b]?
does it smooth out with age?
Just curious, because I REALLY like the look of the bike.

I love inline 4s and never notice the vibes. The vibes on V twins however drives me batty.

Coming from the Guzzi I have the same concerns. Above 65mph, so far, I prefer the Guzzi. In town and below 4K rpm I prefer the Honda (mostly
).
I think you are making a good case for two bikes......

Above 4500 rpm, I expect you are in the upper 70s, cruising along. Right about 80-85, my CB just hums. I don't notice much of anything untoward in the noise department. If anything, it smooths out. I say keep the revs in the 5000s... And always follow all traffic and safety laws for your part of the country...

I recently rode a buddys HD 1200 and his VStrom 1000 both V twins and I couldn't put up with the vibes from either of those for much longer than a 25 mile test ride. I rode my CB thru 4 states at no less than 70 mph and the vibes never bothered me one bit.

Changing the grips makes a huge difference in vibes. The CB does have a sweet spot @ 80.

I don't really notice any vibes with the CB1100. If I did, I would more than likely pass.
Glad I don't, but if I were in your shoes, I would think long and hard before actually purchasing.

Vibration? Coming from a BMW thumper, well let's just say the mirrors on that bike were there for ornamentation and legal purposes only.

Yes, the mirrors were crystal clear the whole ride on the CB, but on the BMW you know something is behind you just can't tell what it is!
And the buzz I felt thru the bars seemed like the mirrors would reflect that, but not so, clear as a bell.
