Best of all, the CB1100 community is incredibly friendly and helpful. The ferret's tutorials on oil changes/600 mile initial service saved me a great deal of money and taught me a lot about bike maintenance as well. The collective knowledge here sheds light on many frequently asked questions (such as what's the best way to remove the discoloration on the headers?).
There are still plenty of bikes out there that I want, but the CB1100 is a permanent member of the family.
As far as bike weight goes (in my situation), I need to lose 80+ pounds before I start throwing money at making the bike light. It's already incredibly agile. I do want those Yoshi full titanium pipes though.

I'd like to know where to get some of the light-weight gear I saw mentioned here. I think that would prove most worthwhile after a decent exhaust. I have been hunting down a particular brand... And I've totally forgotten it since. Oh well. Looking for a real throaty, burbly noise, like on much older CBs. Really fell in love with the noise.
Now another question! This one might be a bit taboo, so no obligation to answer. What did those of you with 2014 DLXs pay? The MSRP here is $11,899 (shown at local dealer), but I know these aren't exactly flying off shelves, so I'm just looking for a good starting point. Thanks again!
Samurider.com has a nice selection of exhaust systems for the CB1100. I believe the stock 4 into 1 weighs 25 lbs. Some of the options on Samurider cut that by more than half.

They also sell the Over Racing aluminum swingarms, which are also about 50% lighter than stock.

So I went and test rode a 2014 STD. Negotiated a price of 10500 OTD. I can still back out, but think this is a solid deal? I love the bike, but big purchases always just give me anxiety..

Try to pay between 10,200 and 10,800 before your local tax and tags only,NO OTHER FEES! and you will be good to go..  for a DLX

It's actually less than that. After tax and everything is 10500. I actually got in an argument with the dealer over it. I told him I was hard at 10 and he kinda got pissy. I'm not exactly an older guy so I'm sure he wasn't taking me seriously. Eh. We got it to be 10500, tax, title, and fees.

And the nearest DLX is over 3 hours away. Which isn't bad, but I can't justify the extra money when I really only care about the tank and seat. Which is only ~$1000 in DIY.

Sent from my Z30 using Tapatalk I bought my '13 last September. I've always owned VTwin cruisers with Fairings and bigger motors, however, the CB1100 is the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle. It's performs great, (not incredible), at many things and is no where close to substandard in any one task. A great riding bike with ample roll on power, smooth engine but not to the point of being mundane. The key word I would use to describe the CB100 is "Balanced." The styling turns more heads then my 08 VTX1800T and other large cruisers I've owned in the past. I'm a CB750K fan so I invested in many accessories from Mr. Tekashi/Samurider to emulate that look. I also considered the Bonnie and the V7, however, once I jumped on the CB1100, the looks, size, feel and power were exactly what I was looking for. I just knew it. You will know if the bike is for you or not.

Took delivery of it last night! To describe the experience... hell... the dealer gave me the run around and tried to charge me 469 over our agreed amount. tried to hold the bike till Monday.. long story short, I got the bike and I pick up my reimbursement check Monday.. just dealt with nothing but kids who had an attitude. Either way, I'm happy to have the bike, sorry Honda of Houston, you've lost my business forever.

Bad business practices. But hey, you got your bike!!! I hope you can ride it. Its raining here and pretty much going to all weekend.

Rain ALL week and it cleared up just for the weekend.  time to go take the whole thing apart and figure it out! Lol new bike routine..

You know the motorcycle business is hard enough with out inept dealers with inept employees making it even more difficult. Sorry for your poor experience, but it's more typical than you can imagine. Dealers with good salespeople are rare..good dealers who also have good parts and good service departments are the holy grail.
Anyhow, glad you got your bike, now you can simply enjoy that experience.
